Nutrilite is killing me!

I have been using NUTRILITE® Daily Multivitamin Multimineral for about 2.5 months. It costs near $10 CAD / month. Great! But what happens is when I use any Nutrilite vitamin (I used Double X, Ginseng two years ago, same stuff) it feels like I have 4 cups of black coffee. Eyes wide open. Sleep is reduced to 80% of what is used to be. In the begining I thought oh it's good. I'm not feeling too down at 4'o clock. But scary part is even at 5 hours sleep on 3 consecutive days I don't feel sleepiness in eyes. My productivity may have gone to pooper but I don't have that 'sleepy' feeling. It's scary! I have stopped using it and I want to know the answer.

Maybe there is something that I am having a reaction to? Maybe it's something that is in all Nutrilite products? Maybe it's just me? I don't know. I'll ask in some pro forum. Those forums are kinda whacky as such posts got deleted in blink of an eye. I once raised an issue about price comparison. But now I'm sold on price. I just want to know what is happening to me. Maybe some other person goes through the same thing? Eyes kinda dry and having a constant wide-awake feeling in them? Not having 'sleepy feeling' but still able to get sleep when I lie on bed? Sum ting wong.

Maybe I didn't need 4,000 IU of vitamin A or 400 IU of vitamin D. Perhaps it's extra ordinary quantity of magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Beta Carotene or any one of them? Maybe not? They have a kick-ass comparison with Centrum on their site claiming “Daily” has 220% more of this and 900% more of that bllah bllah. Perhaps I don't need that more? Sure it might be a good value of my $$ but not for my body? May be it's like eating super size. Maybe! Or perhaps it's just me. So many IBOs eat it. I remember my IBOs days. If I won't be taking Ginseng I might have slept on the wheel and crashed. Maybe that’s what keep the IBOs going? 2:30 AM Kate or drive after STP and morning back to work. Or maybe they don't take multivitamins as much as they claim? Just like the fake claims until they make? Which 99% never achieve.

I think I made a mistake taking a supplement without asking dietitian. In fact I went against the dietitians advice:

Dietitians of Canada - FAQ and Fact Sheets

Ok here is what I gonna do:

No supplement until I figure out what the fuck is going on
Be a brave heart and post my problem in MTR
Post in some other forums where I could expect some one other than administrator reply to me.
Ask some IBOs about it.
Find some dietitian to get a good advice. Perhaps my doctor.
Call Quixtar? Ok it’s a joke. Like they did any thing on my complain about my pyramid like uplines when I complained. Maybe call Nutrilite? I'll if I don't get rid of that constant annoying 4-cup-of-coffee feeling in my eyes in next week.

Aghhhhh. I'm not happy. I need normal me back who felt fresh on full sleep and had sleepy eyes and drowsy on less. I always get it back after few weeks when I stop taking these 'must have' stuff. This time I was more regular on daily as last time they made Dbl X non-Halaal and Ginseng was just 1 month supply.

I took Nutrilite(R) daily multivitamin-multimineral for a month. I used to feel nauseous everytime. I consume a chunk of fruits everyday so perhaps I did not need multivitamin-multimineral at all. Now I plan to get it inspected from a dietitian. I have a bottleful of pills in the medicine cabinet that I'll flush once I get them inspected.

Hey man, relax. That might be the first step you need to take. Placebo is a real thing, so don't over look that. Also, the vitamins you mentioned are water soluable, so there is no over dose possibilities...they just "fill in the gaps" of what is at this time "missing" in your diet.
I know the feeling of having a boost, I take Double X myself. But I assure you there is no reason to worry man. Just don't focus on the pill, just focus on feeling healthy. That "wired feeling" could most likely be an associated angziety. Keep well.

i'm a wellness consultant operating in Malaysia. I've seen that effect when taking Nutrilite especially Dounble-X. I'm assuming you're taking the recommended amount per day by Nutrilite. I recommend you do a complete health check including complete blood test (but you can leave out the tumor tests), and 1-2 alternative health tests methods. Use all the reports to conclude your health condition but i advise you to prioritize the blood test results if there are any conflicting results. This will give you a better understanding on your health. Also get good advice from qualified dieticians and nutritional experts, preferably those who are not in Quixtar/Amway or any other direct selling company (in case you fear their advice are biased).
In general, all nutritional boosting will create reactions in the body. In constrast with typical medication, nutrition doesn't treat targetted symptoms but rather work on the overall health as assigned by the body. Hence, it's very hard to predict exactly the effects of taking any nutritional supplements especially plant concentrates like Nutrilite's Double-X. However, with a complete understanding of a person's health, we can predict with minimum error the possile effects. I have a few clients who felt slepy after taking Double-X; a totally opposite response of the body from yours. Rest assured that, it most likely is just a normal reaction of the body tuning itself back to normal with the additional nutritions consumed.

Please forward any queries to me at edkriss@gmail.com. I'd be glad to provide any help I can offer.

Edward C D'Silva

Bhonga, are you consuming the Nutrilite Daily with an empty stomach? I have a nauseous feeling if I consume it with an empty or near empty stomach. A few of my friends don't however. I believe that has something to do with the acid reaction in the stomach. No issues regarding the health of those with or without the nauseous feeling. Assuming you're consuming the Daily tablet on an empty stomach, my recommendation would be to take the multi-vitamin talet with a complete breakfast with solids (fruits not considered solids in this sense).

Ladies and Gent's,
It is stated very clearly on the bottle to take with food. Ask the expert nutritionist who for some reason is trying to convince me that the vitamins by Nutrilite are bad for me...ask him "Edward", that vitamins and minerals need "carriers" or fats, protiens, sugars to "latch" on to. This gets the nutrients where they need to go. If you take with just water, you will get a cramped stomache, and won't absorb barely any of the supplement.

Also to Edward:
I Just got a physical a few months ago, my second since starting Double X over two years ago. Blood work, the whole thing. He says that he has few patients that are in as good of health as I. As a matter of fact, he has greatly complimented me on my investment in such a good vitamin package.

Also, you might notice that Dr. Phil's research team, when going through a class action lawsuit, instead of paying out cash settlements, actually endorsed a supplement pack that would do what he promised the X brand would(which didn't), and he actually ended up using "Double X" as the sworn replacement. You might also take notice to the lengthening list of OLYMPIC athletes who are using Nutrilite supplements this past year. Or go back to when Micheal Jordan had just won yet another NBA title, when asked how he was maintaining such endurance, he quoted "I take my Double X."

Do a little more searching, and let me know if you need any help.

Thanks.

Thanks Anonymous for the enriching sharing. I've seen lots of remarkable results from the usage of Nutrilite's supplement products. I myself have reduced my eyesight short-sightedness from 150 degrees to a mere 25 degrees over a few months, and my astimatism was reduced by 15 degrees. Nevertheless, it's still always advisable to get advice of plain nutrition supplementations before begining on any regiment. Take note though, not to bluntly trust their negative claims on any brands. For brands, everyone should do their own research on the brands and quality. Just to note, Nutrilite has won the Reader's Digest platinum award in Malaysia third time in a row last year. This has boosted my trust in this particular brand on top of all its certified farms and patented extraction methods.

Regards,
Edward

The daily vitamins I take are fabulous! Especially as a woman, taking supplements for great hair, nails, and skin is essential. Nutrilite is the best 'healthy' product I have ever tasted. The meal, energy, and snack bars also taste great! They don't taste like saw dust 'energy/protein bars' that I normally buy from GNC

Nutrilite has been nominated First Place in health for the last six years. Consider THAT!

I don't think that you need that much vitamines nutrilite is providing + normal food, you can always ask any wiseguy out there what it contains and how much your body needs. Be careful listening to dietists however, the american dietist association is as said to be funded and influenced by companies that sell or associates with companies that sell fast food, soda etc. Probably why I've seen dietists telling you it's okay to eat burgers and drink soda etc.

I thought of trying nutrilite myself, but when I do that, I might not take such giant portions that they advise you to take.

Hi Edward,
I am a certified nutritionist, and gingseng which u r consuming is the reason for yr dry eyes...
Basically gingseng thins yr blood and makes u fell alert, just like tea / coffee. (but its better than both). U have to use gingseng during day time and not during night time, since yr mind will be alert after consumption. And gingseng should not be taken on a daily basis. Daily is just a basic suppliment which provides u all 13 vitamins and minerals needed per day for a person to be healthy.

My brother wanted me to test out the Nutrilite Double X (1 Gold,1Silver and 1 Bronze in the morning and again at night (for a week and see how I feel compared to the other vitamins I normally took 1 Magnesium (for Kidney stones); 2 Omega 3 from Nordic Naturals, Just 1 Once from Rainbow Light (Mens One Energy Multi), and 1 500 Ester-C from Natrol. I too, seem to have a surge of energy, I wouldn't say a high but an elevated energy level. Should I stay with this or keep what I had ?

did you ever figure what was going on?

make sure that u are taking double x with meals. it is packed with a lot, so it can upset your stomach. if anything, call amway global. and talk to them. they are very helpful. if they can't answer you right away, they will open a trouble ticket for you & they will start doing some research. (i know because i am waiting for a question to be resolved).
i was very skeptical about nutrilite, at first. since my tour of the buena park facility, my own regimen of vitamins, and seeing my close friends having their lives change because of nutrilite, i have a lot of faith in the products.

This could be called as Healing Crisis or Cleansing reaction.
Google these phrases for more information.

But other possibilities may exist. You need a real expert or a person who understands the symptoms better to evaluate your situation.

As always Nutrilite products are good, in general.

Basically ginseng could be the problem just like Shruthi said.
Do not take ginseng as a supplement because ginseng is like a herb.
Another thing is that different people require different concentration of ginseng.
Just my opinion only. You may ask your nutritionist for more info.

Dear bad symptom person-

I have experiences of wired feeling after eating different foods too. You may never know exactly what you are reacting to but I have discovered, taking about 1/4 tsp in juice or water, of powdered Vit-C (Ascorbic Acid) will detoxify any poisens in the body. You may purchase this in the healthfood stores. Vit-C is a known detoxifier (it is given in emergency rooms for black widow bites- if right afterward. bitten) Hope this helps,
Andrea

Exactly same experience. However, this I also experienced with other multivitamins supplements. I don't like being sleepless for days together. It looks like killing me. I believe best way is to take fresh vegetables and fruits rather than relying on such nutrition package. Please do update us on your finding if any particular nutrient was causing this that you identified.
